Cricket in Jordan does not appear to have the deep institutional history seen in longer-established associate nations. Publicly available evidence points instead to a small, more recent cricket footprint built through resident communities rather than national sporting tradition. Jordan is not listed among the ICC’s 25 Asia-region members, which strongly suggests that the game there has not yet reached the level of ICC-recognized national governance. That does not mean cricket is absent. It means the sport’s history in Jordan is likely local, community-led, and only lightly documented in formal cricket channels.
Who plays cricket in Jordan
The visible cricket activity in Jordan appears to come from small networks rather than mass participation. ESPNcricinfo carries a Jordan team page, and CricHeroes lists Jordan matches and results, which suggests that organized play exists at least at a basic competitive level. In practical terms, that usually points to expatriate workers, migrant communities, and cricket-playing residents from South Asia and elsewhere who bring the sport with them. There is not much strong public evidence of a broad school, youth, or women’s structure, so the safest reading is that Jordanian cricket is sustained mainly by committed community groups.
Cricket’s place in Jordan today
Jordan’s cricket footprint looks real but limited. The available evidence supports the existence of teams and matches, yet it does not show a nationally prominent sport or a fully developed recognized pathway. Jordan is therefore best described as an emerging or semi-organized cricket country rather than an established one. The game likely remains far outside the national sports mainstream, but the presence of recorded matches is enough to show that cricket has found at least a modest base. For a page like this, the key is not to overstate the structure: Jordan appears to have cricket activity, but on a small scale and with incomplete public documentation.
